ABOUT US
The J.O.Y Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The J.O.Y Foundation is a community and school-based leadership and empowerment program for girls that begins in the ninth grade and continues through high school graduation until youth turn 20 years old. It provides a developmentally sound curriculum that promotes cultivating the confidence and leadership abilities of youth through hands-on learning that includes workshops, field trips, community service, peer support groups, educational advocacy and support, and professional development & job readiness.
Our program participants are referred to as “Gems.” Since ancient times, gemstones have drawn human attention and have been utilized in jewelry, adornments, and art for a very long time. A gem's primary requirement is that it must be exquisite, such are our gems inside and out. We promote, advocate for, and encourage positive self-esteem in our youth to achieve self-empowerment, confidence, and leadership!
Gemstones include stones such as Rubies, Diamonds, Amethyst, Pearls, Emerald, and Garnet.
When Black and Brown girls are nurtured the most with mentorship, support, and resources, they will be more likely to thrive once they reach early adulthood.
